Office
of Consumer and Family Affairs (OCFA)
The Office of Consumer and Family Affairs
(OCFA) represents mental health consumers and their families
who live in Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Gilpin or
Jefferson County and who have Medicaid or receive services
from Jefferson Center for Mental Health (JCMH) or The Mental
Health Center Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties (MHCBBC).
If you have problems with services or want
to appeal a denial or reduction of services, OCFA can help.
We also have an active Consumer and Family Advisory Board
(CFAB) whose members voice their opinions and ideas about
Recovery and mental health services to FBH, JCMH and MHCBBC.
OCFA believes:
-
In Recovery… people with mental health diagnoses
can and do live full and satisfying lives.
-
In Resiliency… children with serious emotional
problems learn to cope with life’s challenges.
We also:
-
Promote the philosophy of Recovery for
adult consumers and Resiliency for children, youth and
their families.
-
Provide the information about mental health
illness, recovery, self-help and community resources.
-
Educate staff, consumers and families about
consumer rights and responsibilities.
-
Advocate for consumers and families, helping
them to resolve grievances and to appeal decisions about
their treatment.
-
Sponsor the Consumer and Family Advisory
Board.
