“Resilience” or “Resiliency” refers to a child and family’s ability to cope and adapt in the face of significant challenges. Although “Resiliency” can apply to both children and adults, in the professional literature, it most often refers to children and their families. A provider (i.e. a therapist, case manager, psychiatrist, peer specialist, nurse, respite worker, youth advocate, family advocate or parent educator) at the mental health center who does an exceptional job helping children, youth and families overcome adversity and/or mental health challenges is a Resiliency Champion. |
